Bible Basics 101 – The Foundational Relationships of Creation: Genesis 2 - Part 3

In Genesis Chapter 1, we find a very broad look at how God made the world; how he gave everything that he made a function and purpose within his new creation. It’s a picture painted with a very big brush we might say, now, with Chapter 2, we get the intimate, more close-up view of how God’s world was created to operate. What we find is not something totally new or different from Chapter One, but a digging down and shoring up of what the passage reveals to us. With the combination of these two chapters, we are given from God, what I like to call our, “Foundational Relationships”. From this divine revelation, we can see that God created and desires us to be in relationship with him, each other, and the world. By the end of this study I hope we will perceive the importance of these relationships and how they tie directly into a flushing and complete life as a Christian in the 21 st century. Bible Basics 101 – Seven Days of Order and Function What is the story of creation all about? Is it a “scientific” account of how God created the world? Yes, we can believe this, and many people do, which is fine. But in the first chapter of the Bible I see something far greater than a technical scientific manual, I see God’s road map for how his creation is to function and operate, according to his plan, not ours. I want to be clear, yes God made the world, but with the Bible we get the more important story of why God made it, not so much of the how. Let’s take a walk together along the road of creation and see what we can find and learn. Day One: “And God said, “Let there be light ”; and there was light. And God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness . God called the light Day , and the darkness he called Night .
